I just saw an original packaging for the Scotts international back in the 70's it was $16

using a inflation calculator I get this...
What cost $16 in 1976 would cost $59.63 in 2009.

so how do they justify $170+ per section

by the way your .02 cents stamp according to the calculator... kinda funny considering postage rates right now were kinda close.
What cost $.02 in 1840 would cost $0.42 in 2009.

here is the calculator for you all to play with...
I was having fun with it :)

Are you sure it's for Scott Internationals, and not a yearly supplement to some other Scott album. It should say specifically on the packaging which Part # of the Scott Internationals. Each SI package is pretty big, as it usually contains 200+ pages.

Taking into account inflation, it's not too far off the mark.

More than half the SI packages typically sell for less than $65.

Thanks for the pic, Edwin! All I can say is, WOW!

I don't sell supplies, and I don't buy old supply stockpiles, so this is the first time I've seen an unopened SI Part XI (1975-1976) that is not a later production run. The current list price is $99.99. Please note that Part XI only covers part of 1976. The rest of 1976-1977 is in Part XII, and that's the one of the megapacs because of the Bicentennial issues (current list $150).

Looks like Scott prices took the big jump sometime in the late 1970s to early 1980s. I was first introduced to Scott products by another collector in 1976. He lent me his stuff, so I never knew what the list prices were. By the time I got my first Scott WW catalog set in 1983, it was already $100+. I don't remember the prices of the album pages at that time, but it was going to be well past my budget limit. I ended up getting a Harris album.

Thanks for posting the pic!
