Welcome to the forum! I don't know much about US stamps, but I think the above posts are a hint... Maybe some of our US members can help you out with more details.. |

hey guys thanks for the responses! I'm glad you guys like these. I like them too much to let them go so sorry about that. But hey I like to share the history with anyone who appreciates it! Some of these letters are very interesting in the fact that the letters inside refer to the abraham lincoln assassination. I have many more if you would like to see those scans. |

just kidding about the money... were just having fun to let you know they are worth something.
and if they are letters discussing Lincoln. those documents are worth much more then the stamps.
I would do everything I could to preserve them... |

rman17, you have a fistful of history in your hands. Not only are the covers valuable, but the letters, if they are as you say they are,are primary sources for historical research as well as valuable to collectors of historical documents. You have two choices, study up about the covers, stamps and postmarks( that could be a lifetime's work) or take the items for appraisal of such items. A bonafide cover and stamp dealer would appraise them for their value but it would cost a fee. It may be worth it. The letters likewise. The letters should be appraised by a bonafide dealer or collector. In the case of the letters, if there is college in your area with a history dept. talk to a professor of History or the likes to get an informed opinion. Joel |
