It's not often you see a single album on ebay valued so high, unless it's by some crackpot without a clue or trying to get lucky.

But this is listed by nystamps, a reputable seller that seems to know more than a little about them. The picture links weren't working at the time I looked so I dropped them an email about the 404 problem with their links.

What do you think of this collection and price, photos permitting?

I get a 410 error and yes I've seen this before though the link didn't work as it kept saying ooppp's 410 error, there would have to be every stamp from #1 to #-? for the price to be so high, normally he takes the best out of the albums and sells them individually and yes I've brought some of his albums(one supposed to be untouched and there were black mounts that were blank).

Yes, I mentioned the links not working at the time I looked and notifying him about the problem. However, if he considers $70,000 Michel to be retail, that's a mighty high percentage in his asking price. Especially since Michel's values tend to be higher than Scott's.

How about MNH blocks of 19th Century and BoB issues. It's fun to think about while we wait for the links to reappear...

i doubt very much it was a knowledgable stamp person that set the price..a couple came to our club and sold us 2 scott Internationals for $200...when we saw the full page of large Kaisers yachts and the full page of Hawaii we said we would take them...we will break them down and I am sure the club will make money on the deal !!

The biggest problem with this seller is that he uses graded pricing supplements. Along with VERY loose definitions of his grades. But, overall you can get some good bargains from him.

I noticed with some surprise that the seller was NYSTAMPS...certainly an unusual listing...high value collections are not normaly housed in a Scott International album !!

Sent him a second email yesterday about the links not working. Looks as if it didn't help because they're still down today. The few times I've contacted sellers about a problem, they've thanked me and taken care of it. I guess he's not all that interested in selling this collection, going by his behavior.

Nystamps has a habit of having descriptions that don't match.. listing a stamp as VF when it is VG or F, always quoting VF CV's..
Like most sellers.. you need to evaluate the stamp yourself and not go by their description or pricing.

Now you know that wasn't really the question.

In a shoebox in a vault?

And I was asking Phil because he has consistently, over the years, given the impression that he thinks collections in Scott International Albums are next to worthless.

Exactly, that's why I so much wanted to see pictures.

Maybe he's actually hoping to get someone to make him a good offer sight-unseen.
