Hello,

I'm from Italy and first I regret for my bad english learned in the far years at the high school.

I decide to join this forum because I'm looking for friends collecting postal history of the city of Milano. My collection starts from the XV century and arrives till 1850 coverig so all the preadhesive period. Then I don't dislike the austrian period too, from 1850 till 1859, with most of the attention to the cancellation marks of the post office of Milano.

My collection is quite advanced so it's not easy anymore to find good looking and uncommon letters. Even more difficult is findind friends having the same kind of interest.

Maybe here there is someone...

I don't collect Italy but would be pleased to see some things you have if you are able to post them.

You learn new things every day, especially with stamps!

I'm sorry to admit that my Italy collection probably numbers fewer than 150 stamps, all off paper, and has resided in an envelope for the last few decades.

Once I get around to cataloging it, I'll keep you in mind if I need any expert advice!

And don't worry about your English, it is just fine.

English is supposedly one of the hardest languages to learn. Even us English speakers have problems with it sometimes.

Perhaps if you share you knowledge and collection people who are searching Google and other search engines will find you here.

Welcome Francesco ! You collect a very specialized field..thats Ok`..My mother was from the Trentino region..part of the old Austria Hungary empire so I like the Austrian stamps overprinted Trentino 1918 ...although probably most are fakes !!

I thank you all for the welcome I appreciated very much and at the same time regret for the delay in my answer due to busy in my work.

Attached here below I show some letters taken from my collection "MILANO 1460-1850": I was choosing one per each century because everyone of them is a little step in the postal-history. My collection runs from medioeval time till 1850 when, in the austrian territory in northern Italy named Lombardy-Venetia, started to circulate small and colorful piece of paper named "francobolli". About this second "adhesive" part I thank my friend Alberto who gave me the scan of stamps taken from collection "MINGIO" specialized on the study of the post office di Milano in the period 1850-1859.

If someone is interested in this field I can try to explain the details of covers and stamps: it would be nice and instructive if a friend would show other letters from worldwide of the same centuries so to understand together what was happening outside Italy and the develop of the postal service before the stamp period.

G'Day Francesco and to the forum,

there is a section on site called "World classic stamps mint and used" and another called "World Covers"you can post your excellent collection in there.
