Tahitian dancers, designed by French-born artist and etcher Jacques Boullaire (1893-1976) who "discovered" Tahiti in 1936, engraved by Albert Decaris, and issued for use in French Polynesia on May 16, 1960, Scott No. 194, SG No. 11.

Mary Wigman (13 November 1886 – 18 September 1973) was a German dancer, choreographer, and dance instructor.
A pioneer of expressionist dance, her work was hailed for bringing the deepest of existential experiences to the stage. She became one of the most iconic figures of Weimar German culture and is considered to be one of the most important figures in the history of European dance

Here's an interesting link (I posted it before in another thread) about the US 13-cent Ballet Dancer Stamp and the fact that the image is actually based on a living person -- and that was definitely against the rules back in that day. I had never known about it before reading the article:

Lovely cover SciFi

Our family was involved in Thai classical dance,
this is Perth 2 years ago for the Christmas pageant.
(members of the Perth Thai cultural society)

Lovely photo Rod! Thai traditions are graceful and fascinating in their detail. I'm not much of a dancer, dodgy knee.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting the Ballet Diaboua getting their groove on, designed and engraved by Pierre Gandon, and issued by Congo (People's Republic) on May 8, 1964, Scott No. 114.

jamesw - Your Kandyan dancer really has the moves!

Here are Russian folk dancers in traditional costumes, designed by Russian artist Valery Pimenov (1920- ), printed by lithogravure, and issued by Russia (USSR) on February 6, 1962 for the 25th anniversary of the Soviet People's Dance Ensemble, Scott No. 2561, Zagorski No. 2570, SG No. 2662.
