Akeela - Great looking Singapore stamps. SG says that first one, with two dancers (Scott No. 72, SG No. 82), was printed (photogravure) by Harrison, and that the others (SG Nos. 103-108) were printed (photogravure) by De La Rue, not by the Japan Government Printing Bureau, Tokyo, as were several other stamps in this set. Also, do you have any information about the designers of any of these stamps to share with us?

fifia - Thanks. I like dancers in traditional costumes best of all. Here are images of a couple more such stamps, also bearing the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) logo. Both stamps were designed after photographs by Danish photographer and graphic artist Ole Wich (1953- ), who resides in the Faroe Islands, engraved by Czeslaw Slania, and issued by Faroe Islands on June 1, 1981, Scott Nos. 63 & 64, Facit Nos. 65 & 66.

DDR 1962

Victor Marius Alphonse Petipa (1818-1910) was a French ballet dancer, teacher and choreographer. Many ballet fans consider Petipa to be the most influential ballet master and choreographer of ballet who has ever lived. Here is an image of a se-tenant block of four stamps depicting a portrait of Petipa and scenes from several of the ballets for which his choreography work is best known: Paquita (1847), Sleeping Beauty (1890), Swan Lake (1895), and Raymonda (1898), printed by photogravure, and issued by Russia on January 14, 1993, Scott No. 6126a.
