La Jota is a Spanish folk dance originating in Aragon in the north of Spain which dates back as far as the 18th century and is the national folk dance of Aragon. Jota is derived from Latin and means 'jump' which describes the lively, bouncy movements to the dance. timbres667 - I like 'em! Thanks for posting. Petrushka is a ballet with music by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971), composed in 1910–11, and revised in 1947. It is a story of a Russian traditional puppet, Petrushka, who is made of straw and with a bag of sawdust as his body, but who comes to life and develops emotions. Here is an image of a stamp depicting Petrushka and profiles of French choreographer René Blum (1878-1943) and Russian ballet impresario Sergei Pavlovich Diaghilev (1872-1929), designed and engraved by Pierre Gandon, and issued by Monaco on June 1, 1966 as one of nine stamps commemorating the centenary of the founding of Monte Carlo, Scott No. 636. - nethryk  |

Here is an image of a se-tenant pair issued by Sweden on May 15, 1991 to commemorate the centenary of public amusement parks. These stamps were designed by Swedish illustrator Kristina Anshelm (1942- ), and engraved by Czeslaw Slania, Scott Nos. 1889 & 1890, Facit Nos. 1689 & 1690. - nethryk  |
