Marta Stana (mentioned above) was a female architect. She also appeared on a Latvian stamp in November 2015.

Gottfried Semper (1803 – 1879) was a German architect, art critic, and professor of architecture. He designed and built the Semper Opera House in Dresden between 1838 and 1841. His other work includes Oppenheim Palace and Semper Gallery in Dresden, City Hall, Polytechnical School and Observatory in Zurich, and Municipal Theater and Museum of Art and History in Vienna. A stamp issued on November 13, 2003 features his Semper Opera House.

Frederico George (1915 - 1994) was a Portuguese architect and painter. He was professor of Technical Education and of the Architecture course of the Superior School of Fine Arts of Lisbon. His projects include office buildings, hotels, exhibition halls, and museums. A stamp issued on March 31, 2015 features his portrait and his Museum of Marine and Planetarium Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon.

Josip Slade (1828 - 1911) is a prominent figure for the Croatian architectural heritage of the second half of the 19th century. He was responsible for a number of important buildings and infrastructures in Montenegro, many of which are still in use today. A stamp issued on November 11, 2011 shows his portrait with his Montenegrin Royal Theater in Cetinje in the background.

Sigurd Lewerentz (1885 – 1975) was an architect, initially trained as a mechanical engineer in Gothenburg. Later he took up an architectural apprenticeship in Germany and started his own practice in Stockholm in 1911. He produced public architectures such as cemeteries, theaters, and churches. A stamp issued by Sweden post in 1987 showcases his work St. Mark's Church in Björkhagen, a south suburb of Stockholm.

Rainer Mahlamäki (1956 -) is a Finnish architect, Professor of Contemporary Architecture, and partner of a successful architecture firm in Finland. The style of the firm has been described as contextual, varying dramatically in character from minimalism to expressionism. The Finnish Nature Center Haltia designed by his firm was featured in a stamp day issue in 2013.

Sheila O'Donnell (1953 -) is an Irish architect who co-founded the O'Donnell & Tuomey partnership in 1988. The practice has developed an international reputation for cultural, social and educational buildings. One of its work Lewis Glucksman Gallery is feature in a Contemporary Public Buildings stamp set in 2013.

Gerrit Rietveld (1888-1964) was a Dutch architect and furniture designer. He was one of the principal members of the Dutch artistic movement De Stijl. Rietveld is famous for his Red and Blue Chair and for the Rietveld Schröder House, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the subject of a stamp issued in 2014.

Sir Nicholas Grimshaw (1939 -) is a prominent English architect, particularly noted for modernist buildings, including Grand Union Walk Housing (Camden), Waterloo International railway station (London), National Space Center (Leicester), The Eden Project (Cornwall), and Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (Troy, New York). His Eden Project is featured in the Landmark Buildings stamp set issued in 2017.

Edward Cullinan (1931-) is a British architect. His notable projects include the Charles Cryer Theater (Carshalton), the Fountains Abbey Visitor Center, the Center for Mathematical Sciences (Cambridge), the Downland Gridshell (Chichester), and the new library at Fitzwilliam College. His Downsland Gridshell is featured in Modern Architecture series issued in 2006.

Alfred Preis (1911 – 1993) was an Austrian-born American architect. He spent his early career in Vienna and emigrated to the United States in 1939. He is best known for designing the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. He also designed several landmark buildings in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Alcino Soutinho (1930 - 2013) was a Portuguese architect considered as a key member of the Escola do Porto. His project for the new building of the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum in Amarante (1977) brought him international recognition. His Câmara Municipal de Matosinhos (1981) is featured in the Modern Architecture series issued in 2006.

Martin Mostbock (1966 - ) is an Austrian architect and designer. He is known for his avant-garde style architecture and design. He has received various national and international awards and nominations. His Protestant Martin-Luther-Church in Hainburg is featured in the Modern Architecture series in 2019.

Peter Haimerl (1961 - ) is a German architect. He started his Studio for Architecture und Consulting in 1991 to deal mainly with urban planning and related issues. He is well known for his Konzerthaus Blaibach which is the subject of a stamp issued on March 1, 2019.

Viollet le Duc (1814-1879) was a a French architect who restored many prominent medieval landmarks in France. His major restoration projects included Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Basilica of Saint Denis, Mont Saint-Michel, Sainte-Chapelle, and the medieval walls of the city of Carcassonne. In his later years he devoted most of his time on architectural history.
