Don't worry Rod. I don't need it. Don't feel obliged. I'll show a quite big (5 x 7 cm) Chile seal: |

Cursus: I just obtained two, a red and a green, of the type of Chile seal that you showed in your scan. Do you have any reference info, e.g., year of issue, catalog, etc.? Thanks.

I'm sorry Donald, but I don't have any information about the Chile stamp above. I just ran into it. Perhaps, Jorge Sourci, who is Chilean, can provide us some more information. |

Thank you, Cursus. I have examined ebay, Google and bidStart and found a few for sale, but only one entry has any reference to a catalog number or year; the red stamp is referred to as Y&T #9 and 1900 as the year. Not sure how accurate these are. Donald |

Hi These Official Seals were printed in lithography (red and blue) and were issued in 1900. Proofs (or not-issued) are know in other colors (green, orange, yellow, violet, black and lilac) But caution!... forgeries exist : The forgeries are recognized easily : 1)- In the genuines ones the ornament that surround the white circle is composed by lettering "E" placed like in mirror, and in the forgeries ones the lettering "E" is correctly placed... 2)- The genuine ones have a few vertical straight lines under the ornaments of both sides, and in the forgeries ones these lines are semi-curved or diagonals |

CHILE 1917Block of 4 with tête-bêche pair. It was not issued because it had an error: CIHLE instead of CHILE |
