Beginners Collection. Boosted by some free gifts from SCF Jos Sanders. Thank you. 1904 "Grasset" Type One of my favourite designs (Designer M Grasset) However proved unpopular, and was replaced after 3 years (Understandably) Allegory of "France" including the Fasces (Power and Jurisdiction) and Ships anchor (Navigation) Note: Interesting Font use, the right hand serif on some value numerals, are not included, very unusual. The 1 franc Pale Green Postmark, I could only find 1 Octagonal Type (Maritime Marseilles a Kobe ) Hence, a guess only. Author : Ron Bentley Marshall Petain. Postage Dues.

Nice blocks Linus, perhaps the paper went through the press skewed with the 2nd colour. With Sc#48 The Cambodian girl, always intrigued me with the frame design, Is that a seven headed dragon? Do not recall seeing that whilst living in Asia. Aha! found it Angkor wat temple (Angkor Temple Temple) Not visited. |

That heptacephalic creature is a snake or Naga (as called in Sanskritam language) which is an integral part of Indian Hindu, Jain and Buddhist mythology. Indian mythology has deep influence on Khmer mythology as well as mythologies of other South East Asian countries. May be Eli Moallem (LaoPhil) can enlighten us more on this subject. |

Indo-China Postage stamp paper.
I have a number of stamps, that at first, I considered "Tropical Toning" but recently read, some were on yellow paper. Mine are more like "Carton Paper"
Can any members expand on this please?
