What Is Value Of These Early Airmail Precancels

Not really a precancel person although I do have a few including many 19th century. But was curious as to value impact on these items C1,C2,C3. Saw where earlier somebody valued a c1 precancelled, just curious on these items. Thanks

First 16c stamp has Maryland inverted. Assuming it is genuine, it should be less common than the normal ones.

These are all cataloged, but the exact title of the reference eludes me tonight.
It prices each town/type combination. Naturally, some are much higher and some are lower than the non-precanceled value. The in-depth precancel collectors will no doubt supply the reference shortly.

These are all priced in the Precancel Stamp Society Classics 2 catalog, 2a for state letters A-M, 2b for state letters N-Z.
The scanned stamps are all 'common' precancels for C1-C3. The catalog values will be no higher than Scotts for used stamps but the listings are supposed to be 'net' values' so the stamps are easier to sell for those amounts.

Price examples for the 4 Federalsburg's from upper left to lower right... 10$,10$,20$,10$ - somewhat under Scotts.

Cross center line block of four on the 24¢ should bump the price a bit.

"Precancel stamp value" is a function of two variables. The first variable is the underlying stamp's used value as all precanceled stamps are considered used. Second is the scarcity of a particular precancel on the stamp in question. A "particular precancel" is a combination of the city/state and style of the precancel (type face, text used and nature of bars). Rare city/state/style can at times outstrip the underlying stamp's value, sometimes hugely so.

Since the center-line block of the C3 is worth more than a simple block of four as well as four individual singles, that will affect the value. As the stamps are considered used I would reinforce the split perfs at the bottom unless the block has full NH og, then you have a dilemma. The inverted name example can be a better, more valuable, precancel but the precancel catalog would need to be consulted. The C-2 correct Federalsburg MD precancel is on a notably well centered stamp. Same could be said for C-1 block. Final value is still set by the old supply and demand altar of capitalism.

Appreciate the info, the center line block has been hinged so I will take your advise and reinforce the perfs as you suggest. Some of the stamps are indeed nicely centered with very large margins, the only question is how much will the fact that they are precancelled have on their selling price. People that will pay the extra for a VF or XF stamp usually want a lightly cancelled copy. Thanks for the input.
