Thanks cjd
Bought this set at the stampshow from a 85 years man who collect Poland most of his life. He decide to sell his stamp at this age. He never mention to me the inverted overprint. I just mount it in my album and I didn't pay attention. I check in Fischer and it's the one with the least value. Still instead of 2zl it is 40zl with the inverted overprint. 50f/20gr inverted worth 1000zl. So cjd thank bringing this to my attention. Daniel

Love these overprints. Keep them coming

On this one it humours me that it was originally 40 Centimes, overprinted to 40 Pfennig, then re-overprinted to 40 Marks. Waste not want not.

Below are a selection of JNF labels overprinted for Postal Use, May 2-22nd 1948.

From May 2nd, The Mandate Post Offices began to close and the Jewish People's Administration authorised the use of JNF labels to be used for postage purposes.
They were overprinted 'Do'ar' in Purple and Red for use in the Tel Aviv area and in a black circle for use in Haifa.
Areas cut off from the fighting during this pre-Independence period issued their own stamps which today are much sought after by Israel Collectors.

Stamps of the Mandate were in use until the day after Independence was declared, May 15th. They were though, in short supply.

The overprinted [by Handstamp] JNF labels were used until May 22nd, a week after the first Do'ar Ivri issue on May 16th.

The Haifa example below is has an inverted overprint. This was quite common as often, in haste, whole sheets were handstamped thus !

Makes you wonder why they overprinted 40 on 40. Just to keep it all Black I guess !

The Philippines were shown earlier in this post, but I'm surprised no one scanned the airmail issues (love those planes!):

Lovely stamps and super scans, but they are taking an age to download.
The center of the page is almost off-screen for 5 minutes !

Nice one PF, I like early Jamaica.

Any info welcomed on these two..
Not listed in Forbin.

As an aside we must acknowledge one of the
greatest moutaches in history
King Umberto 1st
I saw recently on Aust "collectors" show
a fellow who collected mugs, that had a special
plateacross the lip of the mug to prevent
a moustache dip, in the coffee or in the minestrone.

BTW plateflaw, that is "Diadem D" of the mother die,
of the penny red, blocked and re-engraved for the
olive wreath by Joubert.

You may not have the 1890 provisionals Plateflaw,
they are expensive, but if you do, post some images,
and I'll post the treadle printer that printed the overprints.

Having a cliché upside down in the plate plays hell when you overprint the sheet:

(Cochin SG 22d)

So how do you fix the problem?

So every singleton with a really wonky perf Tony,
you would suspect from the inverted cliche.

I realise they are all over the place,
not parallel with each other.
