Hi: RE "Greve des postes" stamps shown above. I found a reference for these in a Bill Hornage cinderella list. It is mentioned that they were made in 1975 in response to a Canadian postal strike. They originated from the town of Saint Leonard, Quebec, which is located north east of Montreal. There were only the 50c and 75c values issued, however, imperforated proof sheets of the veritcal pair of stamps were also printed on white, salmon, pale green and pale blue papers. Both stamps have the blue and which Quebec flag with the "fleur de lys" insignia. The 50c value has the City of Montreal coat of arms in the centre, while the 75c stamp has a portrait of Jacques Cartier.

Gilles le timbre, I'm sorry to say I do not have a copy to sell or trade, I don't have one at all.
Try Riga Stamps online, they have that kind of stamp often.
Good Luck! Mike |

A new Juan De Fuca stamp! a first sighting for me, buckeye. CindyCan will identify possibly. Here in Australia, I would normally pay $1 for similar, but nowadays, the Auction reserve is a minimal $5.00 Vendors know collectors will not pay that for a singleton so you may get that label in amongst say 6-7 cinderellas.

Hi ncbuckeye: Your Juan de Fuca stamp is cat. # J93A in the catalog of "Strike, Courier and Local Post of the Elizabethan Era" edited by Earle E. Covert. It had (1992) a cat. value of $0.75 mint and $1.25 used. These were issued in minisheets of 4 different designs, and there were 4 different denominations (38c, $1.25, $2.25 and $4.50). Here's what the minisheets looked like. Hope this helps. |

I have not seen this one before.... Does anyone know anything about this Postal Strike issue in 1968? A se-tenant block of 8 stamps issued by J.R. MacLean's Trucking and Despatch Service. |
