Daniel Peter (1836 - 1919) of Moudon, France was a successful manufacturer of milk chocolate. His company eventually merged with Nestle in 1929 (Wikipedia). This circa 1910 advertising label of Peter Milk Chocolate shows a blacksmithing elephant. The trunk holds the tang as the hot end of the piece is hammered.  |
