This February 16, 1996 joint issue of Germany and Japan celebrates the birth bicentenary of Phillip Franz von Siebold (1796-1866) who contributed to the modernization of Japan by bringing his knowledge of Western medicine and science to the country.

For my photography topical collection I have had this in my want list for a while, but just found and ordered today:

Czech Republic (Scott#3397) and Slovakia (Scott#548)



It depicts Karel Plicka (1894-1987) a distinguished photographer and film maker, noted for his creation of Czech photographic collection (Prague architecture for example) and folk genre.
The souvenir sheet includes one 35k stamp showing Plicka flanked by two labels of a landscape and a portrait of woman.

On April 18, 1998 Belgium and France issued these stamps commemorating the birth centenary of Belgian surrealist painter Rene Magritte (1898-1967). The painting depicted is Le Retour (The Return).

Belgium and Israel jointly commemorated the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Belgian expressionist painter and printmaker James Ensor (1860-1949) on May 16, 1999. Israel issued one 2.30 shekel stamp showing the detail of Ensor's 1892 painting My Favorite Room.

Belgium issued three stamps, two depicting paintings and one 30f stamp showing Ensor's 1896 etching Death Pursuing the Flock of Humans. The 17f stamp depicts The Oyster Eater 1882, while the 32f shows Old Woman with Masks 1889.
