My latest cinderella find -- a set of ten philatelic exhibition seals (MNH) that were issued in advance of the Vienna International Philatelic Exhibition of 1933 as publicity.

This site provides additional information on these cinderellas:

Nice and very colorful. It seems all the classic cinderellas were issued in the 1930's and 1940's. The present day ones just don't come close to these classics, even though printing technologies have vastly improved.

I agree. You can't see their names on the stamps at this resolution but the set was designed by Ludwig Hesshaimer and printed by the Rosenbaum Brothers.

Seeing as how today is Veteran's Day, I found it interesting that Hesshaimer had designed a set of charity labels in 1918 for the Veteran's Relief Fund -- this proof image is from a Matthew Bennett auction (Sale 330).

Hesshaimer was also just about 50 years ahead of time with his design of the rocket mail image.

Rod,

I have no idea what their original cost might have been, or their current value for that matter. My father gave me his collection a few weeks ago and I came across them today while going through one of his albums. Here is a better scan for that amazing database of yours!

I would also like to see larger scans if possible.

Looks like they were printed photogravure.

lithograving,

You're correct in that photogravure was the printing method. Here is a larger version of the Runner and an excerpt from a December 1932 prospectus describing the labels.

Thanks Steve.
Brüder Rosenbaum also printed stamps for Liechtenstein in the thirties and for Austria in the early sixties mainly because the Austrian State Printer didn't have the multicolour capabilities which Brüder Rosenbaum had with their offset presses.

Thanks Thomas, nice scans.
I had not realised the theme also, good one.

I could have sworn I had a hesshaimer Cinderella (poster stamp)
(steel tubing I thought)
but I could not find it, perhaps I spelt it incorrectly.

Here are some other Hesshaimer but not mine.
