Nice stamps but I would have never guessed to think they were Christmas Seals. |

Without "traditional" Christmas-seal themes, or the double-barred Cross of Lorraine (the traditional anti-tuberculosis symbol), these don't give up their purpose easily. But, when you see Jul. or Julen, think "Yule" (as in Yule log) and you'll be on the right track, as it is common on the Scandinavian "Christmas" stamps.
(If you think "Yul Brenner", you'll still be off in the wilderness.)
[By the way, great stamps.] |

Rod222, Nice early Denmark, thanks for sharing. As for the GOD JUL I wonder if this could be a local Christmas seal rather than a national? |

Yes, Russ, I'll adopt that reasoning until further info comes to hand. The "clogs" are a bit of a worry, did they wear those in Denmark? The gent with the beard looks suspiciously like a troll. I hope the allegory of the "black sheep" on the 1936 christmnas seal, was not lost on you |

Quote: Any idea where/what country "GOD YUL" would come from? GOD YUL is Swedish for "Merry Christmas". I'm not 100% sure, but I think the seal shown may be from Norway. |
