Since many recent cinderella posts have involved Christmas Seals, this website shows the 2010 Christmas Seal, as well as a pictoral history of the seals over the past century. For those interested in the subject, the website is entertaining and thought some might enjoy:

Nice link, WT

For those who collect, there's probably some way to grab that flash file and save it on your local hard drive.

I couldn't figure out how to snag the stamp display, however I back tracked the link to the photo gallery,

so you can download them and put them in a folder...

While this isn't a Christmas Seal, it's a postmark advertising Christmas Seals.

I find this one particularly interesting because I understand it to be the last year that the Red Cross was involved in Christmas Seals (1919). As of 1920, they were issued by the National Tuberculosis Association.

Knowing how fond we all are of learning... and that our friends at wikipedia are so reliable... I still thought this interesting.

"One third of the world's population is thought to be infected with M. tuberculosis, and new infections occur at a rate of about one per second. The proportion of people who become sick with tuberculosis each year is stable or falling worldwide but, because of population growth, the absolute number of new cases is still increasing. In 2007 there were an estimated 13.7 million chronic active cases, 9.3 million new cases, and 1.8 million deaths, mostly in developing countries. In addition, more people in the developed world are contracting tuberculosis because their immune systems are compromised by immunosuppressive drugs, substance abuse, or AIDS. The distribution of tuberculosis is not uniform across the globe; about 80% of the population in many Asian and African countries test positive in tuberculin tests, while only 5-10% of the US population test positive."

My first for the season came in today's mail similarly affixed.

The scan doesn't show it but the border has the appearance of gold foil.
