Non stamp related question Dianne, what would you spend on heating in an average year? any idea? I am wondering if your energy costs are similar to Australia.

Bump! A beautiful evening here today (at last - after all the rain). The sky's gone red since I took this, but it's gorgeous |

This is just to reassure myself that winter does not last forever despite the fact that it is -18, snowing lightly, and the driveway needs to be shovelled again. January 6, 2011, sunrise from the front door at about 0900. January 6, 2011, missed sunset so took a picture from the back door at about 1700 hours. Wildlife emerging. This was mid-May 2010 and just outside city limits. Admittedly rare to find a grizzly this close to the city but it was too interested in grazing on dandelion roots to pay any attention to us (in the car - with the windows closed). About 25 feet away at this point. And finally, my reminder that spring and summer do exist. June, 2010, looking in at the stamp room - window to the right of the front door. Great to see all your pictures - As good as a cruise (almost) |

It is dark right now, so taking a picture out my living room window won't help much. Til I get one in the light would you settle for a picture up the driveway toward the house, taken this fall by a neighbor? out the side of the house at sunset and from my stamp room window (which is one end of the living room) |

Some nice sites from all over. Here is a picture out my window this dull morning near the east coast of Canada. However last May I came home from work to see this, looking at the same place! Planes dropping chemical on a brush fire. A few more months now and we will be rid of the snow and back to fire season again. Brian |

Our house is set up a little strange inside. My computer is in my sister's old room along with things like my books, clothes, etc. My bedroom is TINY, but my regular desk and stamp/ephemera collections are in there. My VHS tapes take up a huge amount of room. Soooo, the stamps see this all day: The computer sees this all day: AND this Not very impressive thanks to the lack of leaves right now and the screens! |

Nells Look like a nice quiet neighbourhood to me. Nothing out there to disturb you from your stamps. Enjoy your hobby. Daniel |

I've enjoyed this topic immensely! Here's a few photos from my hometown Portland, Oregon. My home is a small, 2 bedroom house tucked into a neighborhood that borders two interstate freeways ... one is 2 blocks to the East, the other 5 blocks to the North. Traffic is messy and noisy. picture 1: This is a view out my front door during rush hour Picture 2: No windows in my stamproom! I use a corner in my basement. It's so incredibly quiet that I actually feel I'm outside of the city! I have my PC to the right of my stamp corner and a hi-def TV hanging on the wall behind me. Very comfy :) Picture 3: This is what my city looks like when you live on the "right side of town" :) Picture 4: This is the house I grew up in. My brother and I were cleaning up and stealing my mother's rose bushes after she passed away and we had to sell her house. Picture 5: This is me preparing to load my race car. Unfortunately, I have more than one expensive hobby :) Brian |

Too funny (looks like a good place to start business as a dentist) Lovely pics, thanks for posting, the floating snow covered mountain is spectacular. My Town not exactly from my window, but just out of town a hill of 500m where I practice my hill climbs. Nearest town to mine is 47Km away. As Tony mentioned, anything so remote in Oz is referred to as "woop woop" |
