The construction of Olympic Bridge started in 1985, but was not completed until 1990, after the Seoul Olympic Games of 1988, because the bridge under construction had collapsed.
Jindo Bridge has now become a twin bridge, as the second Jindo Bridge was added in 2005.
Changseon-Samcheonpo Bridge is consist four sub-bridges: Samcheonpo Bridge, Choyang Bridge, Neukdo Bridge and Changseon Bridge. Only Samcheonpo Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge.

This stamp is from a sheet of 12 stamps from China (2014) featuring the Yangtze River Valley, this stamp shows overview of the city of Chongqing lying along the Yangtze, and 3 bridges are visible on the stamp.

This dam appears on the drawing of an unnamed location on a sheet of 10 stamps released by the Japan Post in 2014 to mark the Centenary of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers.

China 2012 Yan'an Pagoda Hill with a multi-arch bridge in the foreground. This stamp is from a 6-stamp issue entitled Red Footprints - marking historical milestones of the Chinese Red Army, now known as the People's Liberation Army.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a view of downtown Ghent, Belgium, featuring St. Michael's Bridge, an old stone bridge near St. Michael's Church, which connects the Graslei and Korenlei, two streets which lie along the banks of the old harbor of Ghent. designed by Herman Verbaere, engraved by Constant Spinoy, and issued by Belgium on August 7, 1971, Scott No. 810, plus a photo of the bridge and the church from the "reverse angle."

The Karl-Theodor Bridge or "Old Bridge" crossing the river Neckar in Heidelberg is nowadays used primarily as a bridge for pedestrians. The original structure, made of red sandstone, was built under the rule of the Elector Karl Theodor in 1788. There had been several bridges at the same location earlier. It was rebuilt after its total destruction (by the Germans!) only weeks before the end of the second world war. The Nazis had attempted to prevent the American Army from crossing the river.

  • Millenium Bridge, erected 2000 as a footbridge to celebrate the turn of the century.
  • Tower Bridge built 1894 a iconic symbol of London is a combined bascule and suspension bridge.
  • Westminster Bridge, first bridge was built 1750, the current bridge was opened 1862.
  • Blackfriars Bridge a road and foot traffic bridge was built 1869.
  • London Bridge an old (medieval) bridge was stone bridge completed 1209.

Bridges in art - Ando Hiroshige (1797-1858)



Utagawa Hiroshige was one of the last great master of a Japanese ukiyo-e art a woodblock prints.
He is best known for his landscapes and for his depictions of birds and flowers.
On stamp is Okazaki bridge from his series of work the Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido.

Hi KlausR, very interesting sheet of modern bridges from Netherland.
But for topical colector only "here are some bridges" is not enouhg.
We all see that on stamps are bridges and not cats or flowers.
Topical colector want to know something more about these bridges: name, type of bridge, ....
