I do not know in what section refer to the note, but let it be a totally unexpected theme: "Bridges and the sea."
Recently I get in my collection an interesting stamp: Germany, private mail "Northern Courier",
featuring gorgeous handsome cable-stayed bridge across the Strait of Stralsund, which separates Rügen from the mainland to the north-east.
The island of Rügen, this is a topic for an interesting historical article - one of the legendary northern centers ecumene - the ancestral home of the Germans -- Rugova (or ulmerugov), and later one of the most important centers of Slavic paganism to the famous shrines of Arkona, the alleged birthplace of Rurik, the island of Ruyan ancient Slavic traditions.
But back to the bridge: the main pylon of the bridge is next to a small island Danholm in the middle of Strait, but the bridge itself is so high hovers over it, that it is impossible to get to the island itself by car
and here on the train, perhaps, that it is possible. The well-known series of the GDR, "Industrial archeology", 1988 - the railway lift bridge over the canal Stralsund "Brick Channel"
really impressive building, completely devoid of grace and the expressive power of embodying the German technical thought!
Now compare these two bridges, so to speak, their family photo. Railway bridge completely lost amid the greatness of his young neighbor. Passing on the new bridge may not notice it at all
But here is confident that other monument of German engineering with high Shtralzaundbrucke with interest and looking at all the passengers (disciplined German drivers do not count) - a little more than a kilometer separates them from the famous barque "Comrade"
