In Aztec mythology, Mictlantecuhtli was a god of the underworld and one of the principal gods. Here is an image of an engraved airmail stamp with a striking black and white design featuring Mictlantecuhtli "delivering" a piece of mail (presumably from the dead letter office), issued by Mexico on December 1, 1934, Scott No. C65, SG No. 573.

1999 Black and White thee-some from GB (strictly speaking the last one is White on White). The "invisible" stamp is a white embossed stamp. The bottom tweaked scan shows the head (courtesy of Norvic Philatelics)

I started collecting black 'n white stamps, based on the colour indication in the Michel catalogue. On the pic below some look brownish rather than black, but according to Michel they are all black.

I was scanning some Austrian airmails and thought of this thread. We have a lot of new faces who might enjoy paging through the great images. It has been awhile, so I apologize if this is a duplication, but I don't recall seeing it:

Some from NZ, the first two (issued 2010) of which represent a hot topic generally at the moment with the World Cup being played in England! The AirNZ was part of a five stamp set issued earlier this year but only this one was black and white.
