This 20 mark Bavarian stamp (on left, Mi.#195) is the high value of Bavaria's "Farewell" set of 18. It was issued on March 20, 1920 and was valid until June 30, 1920.

On April 6, 1920, two and one half weeks after this Bavarian stamp was issued the "Farewell" set was overprinted as a set of 20 ( new 80 pf and 4 Mk stamps added) and issued for use in all of Germany. These stamps were valid until September 30, 1923.

Interestingly, the overprinted 20 Mk stamp (Mi. #138 I.) was reprinted/issued with a lightened "BAYERN" inscription to accommodate the overprint.
