John is correct about the SCF rules; you'll have 50 posts in no time, so don't worry about that. But those rules prevent you from buying and selling on SCF. In my opinion, the don't restrict you from learning about how to buy and sell.
I will go further and tell you YES, you can find kiloware without getting involved in online auctions or e-banking.
One source for kiloware advertisements is Linn's, a weekly publication. You can see the classifieds online if you go to
www.linns.com . On the menu bar, click Marketplace, then Classified Ads. You can search for a country/category or browse all the ads. I will tell you, it's much easier to view and understand the listings if you have a print copy of Linns. I'm not sure if they're sold in newstands anymore, but it's worth a look if you're close to an outlet.
Anyway, there are still a lot of dealers out who will accept your check.
I don't buy kiloware myself, so others here can tell you more about it. I've noticed some ads don't specify if the stamps are on- or off-paper. Another thing that always seems tricky to me would be understanding the difference in a mixture, a packet, a lot, and a collection ???
Good Luck,
Kirk
