Hi! T.J.

Something you need to know about information on buying and selling with SCF.
A member needs to have 50 posts a been a member for a min of 2 weeks before anything like this can happen.

It may seem hard but it is a good rule for many reasons.

As I see it I can not answer this question as it breaks this important rule.

It will not be long and this area will open up to you. Happy stamping John

John is correct about the SCF rules; you'll have 50 posts in no time, so don't worry about that. But those rules prevent you from buying and selling on SCF. In my opinion, the don't restrict you from learning about how to buy and sell.

I will go further and tell you YES, you can find kiloware without getting involved in online auctions or e-banking.

One source for kiloware advertisements is Linn's, a weekly publication. You can see the classifieds online if you go to www.linns.com . On the menu bar, click Marketplace, then Classified Ads. You can search for a country/category or browse all the ads. I will tell you, it's much easier to view and understand the listings if you have a print copy of Linns. I'm not sure if they're sold in newstands anymore, but it's worth a look if you're close to an outlet.

Anyway, there are still a lot of dealers out who will accept your check.

I don't buy kiloware myself, so others here can tell you more about it. I've noticed some ads don't specify if the stamps are on- or off-paper. Another thing that always seems tricky to me would be understanding the difference in a mixture, a packet, a lot, and a collection ???

Good Luck,
Kirk

Hello

I love the kilowares and always try to find a good kiloware dealer, of course many people buy kiloware but nobody tell you where

Are easy to find on internet, so I don´t understand your question,

If you make contact with a dealer via email, you are order online? if you send, cash/money order/check, your are not buying online?

About the KirkS question I follow the link and found this

"Refresher Course:Stamp mixtures, packets add to collections"

thanks everyone.

i understand about the 50 post requirement.i wasn't trying to "bend" the rules.if it read like I was I apologize.

back story:

i live in a small town (population 600),the closest "large" city is 50 miles away - Chattanooga Tn. I did look in their yellow pages and they do seem to have 1 stamp shop and they also have a club but,i just never seem to have time to break away and go.

i was wondering if there was a place I could order from through the mail and not have to deal with online ordering.i was not trying to solicit an order from members I plan to bug y'all to death after I get my 50 posts.

i will check at linns. thanks again.
T.J.

Hi!T.J. I did not think you were bending the rules.
For me it is all about being a stamp collector 1st and a stamp dealer a long way second. This conflict has blinded me in some ways. I will read and think a bit more on Kirks comment. I have something to learn in his wisdom. If I have caused you any grief I am truly sorry.

My concern is more about making sure that my welcome to new members is truly that and not seen to be trying to drum up stamping business. One of the reasons why I like the 50 post rule so much.

I am in a strong position with stock in Australian decimal kiloware and also with stock for packets up to 1,700 different. The question you asked caught me off guard a bit and I am truly sorry for any offence that I may of caused. John!

John,

i took absolutely no offence to your post.i think you have been a great help to me in my new hobby and I am grateful for your help and advice.

i also agree with the 50 post requirement.i think it probably does "weed" out some unscrupulous buyers and sellers.

i probably did get too excited & jumped the gun by posting the topic and if I did I am sorry.it is hard to come up with 50 quality posts when you are new to the hobby and dont want to wear out your welcome by asking a bunch of dumb questions though

again thanks for all the help you have given me.i appreciate it.

Terry

I realize this is an old topic, but I have ordered kiloware from several suppliers I FIND online, but then they send me an invoice by email, with instructions on how to pay by check or money order. That has worked pretty well.

Mostly I request this when I notice seller sites where the "secure site" logo on my browser has a red X in it.

Unless you have a way to dispose of extras, I suggest that you start by buying a bunch of all different from each country to start with. There are some good USA mail circuit swapping groups that you might want to check out. Some advertise in Linn's.
