Hi, these stamps are supposed to be Greek but after spending a lot of time going through the book with a small collection, I just cant find these particular ones. Can anyone help me find them in the Scotts book or tell me which country they actually are? They do seem to be Greek though... Thank you
PS I had to crop the picture way down to fit, sorry, it still shows all the writing etc though.

Are those the ones that Scott doesn't catalog because of postal validity? I ask because the stamp at right appears cancelled. Or is the revolutionary set Scott footnotes some other set?

Hi Kim,

Yes, these are two of the stamps that the Scott note refers to. These two are from the set of six that are most often seen. They are very many reprints, forgeries and forged cancels and relatively few original stamps.

There was an earlier set of five and an unissued set of three. The stamps you come across of these two sets are usually forgeries.

All three sets are listed in SG and Michel.

nigelc, I have several stamps like the one on the bottom right of the picture.

Any idea how forgeries can be distinguished from originals?
