Okay, Holiday issues omitted, I'll submit this one for November 4th:

If you're wondering about the unusual cachet, it's a Virgil D. Crow Cachet. If this excerpt is to be believed, they are a limited edition of no more than 30 per issue (considering I have 3 of these, that means I have 10% of his covers made for that issue)!

For further reading on Virgil D. Crow cachets, check this link out:

Great stampless letter Barb! Yours and mine for November 6th have something in common -- the addressee had to pay for the privilege of receipt.

For the 6th. Nothing spectacular but a nice postal use of a revalued, prestamped envelope. Also noted the odd year date slug on the cancel being a completely different type face from the basic cancel. Small things attract small ..... and the like.

For November 7th. A metered piece, but an Official Mail one, which is much less common:

Three pieces for the 7th. Two items from the regular mail system and one FDC from Brazil.

As an aside, I personally like the modern issues of South American Countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Peru. However, I find it very rare to find them in either used or mint condition in collections or bulk lots which is where I get the majority of my world material. Any hints as to where I might find material from this area?

Posting this one late, but Saturday would have been my late sister's birthday, so indulge me. Happy Birthday V.

On a cheerier note, for today we have Christmas greetings, after a fashion, from Life magazine.

The tree is made up of date stamps (I think I've shown it here before)

In case anyone was looking for more information on the Postal Card posted by Russ, dated 1885, here's information on the addressee "Mr. Locke", who was "Augustus W. Locke":

(This also helps to decipher all of the initials used on the Postal Card: H. T. & T. & G. R. R. = "Hoosac Tunnel & Troy & Greenfield Railroad.)

I'd also be curious to see what was contained on the reverse side of that postal card. Railroad buffs, especially those interested in the colorful history of the Hoosac Tunnel, would be interested, I'm sure.
