Here are some modern international mail labels with bar codes.. Most are registration labels, and all are computer printed on self-adhesive paper.

They are, from top to bottom and left to right: United Kingdom, Israel, Portugal, Czech Republic, Argentina, Croatia, and Hong Kong (China).

Here are a few more modern international mailing labels. The first is from Croatia (2004) and it is dot-matrix printed on security paper. The second is from Honduras. It is laser printed on shiny, self-adhesive paper which appears to have been scissors cut before being placed on the envelope. The third is a laser printing on self-adhesive paper from the Czech Republic.
