A number of airmail labels from around the world. I just got them, so somewhat unorganized. On picture 1 the top left is a booklet from 1930 with Dutch labels. I now have one with 10(standard) and 12(rare) panes of 4 labels. |

Quote: so somewhat unorganized. Lovely stuff Johan, A few there I have not seen before. excuse my mirth, "organised etiquettes" ? surely a route to madness ! Good luck with that. I have shoeboxes of the things, in the "too hard" basket. |

Here is one on a DDR cover that is a little "out of the ordinary." The cover is a mailing from VEB Minol in Rostock to Ostsee-Druckerei in Stralsund.. The large ZKD in the return address tells you that VEB Minol, a DDR state-owned gasoline and oil reseller, was a member of the Zentral Kurierdienst, a separate courier/mail service for government agencies and state-owned businesses. Michel catalog lists the ZKD stamps/mailing labels (not used on this cover) in its Deutschland-Spezial catalog. They date from 1955-65. Ostsee-Druckerei, a printing firm, may have been a state-owned business but it was not a member/qualified user of ZKD. So, the label indicates this. It must not have been an unusual situation, because the label has the identifying code "ZKD 7" . Specifically, the label states, "Handing over as normal mail - Recipient is not a ZKD participant. Fee paid. ZKD control." |

This modern, August 1, 1988 oversized envelope (175mm x 250mm) of the Federal Republic of Germany is from the Bundespost's mailgram office in Munich to the editor of a medical journal. It contains two "telebrief"/mailgram labels sized 19mm x 40mm each. From linguee.com, "A mailgram is a type of telegraphic message which is transmitted electronically from the sender to a post office and then printed and delivered to the recipient via postal means. I'm fairly new to collecting etiquettes, and have been having pretty good luck in identifying their countries. But here's one I'm not sure about. Does anyone know where it hails from? Thanks. |

Not seen before. We have 2 clues...."CORREO" and the colours, Red White and Blue. That would suggest to me, of South American genesis. Perhaps Costa Rica? Paraguay? Similar Livery, just to confuse things Perhaps American, adopted for use in South American Locations. |
