Never seen overprint like that. I look in Scott and can't find it. Certainly fake. |

These will never be in Scott. These can be called Hitler Heads Obliterates. Many towns after the German surrender issued these some officially some privately but all obliterates Hitler's portrait.
Michel's is the best place to fined these issues.
But this example I've not found in Michel's, secondly this one displays the swastika, not an image used after the surrender. I've also checked occupational issued overprints but not match there either.
It maybe Fake but unfortunately there is still a market for this kind of thing. |

Good point...Why would they use the swastika to obliterate Hitlers face? The whole point was to use the stamps (because of the paper shortage) for postage but they needed to cover Hitler's face. I don't know why I didn't think of that. I know there are a ton of fakes out there. |

Is that a bi-color overprint? The shield looks yellow on my screen. Seems like a lot of effort for the intended purpose, at that time and place. Good point about the swastika, too. |

If you look at the red and brown stamps, the swastika appears green. This in addition to the yellow background of the shield and the black. It is difficult to believe these are tri-color overprints. Even on the last stamp, the green of the swastika is not the same green as the stamp. |

Hi sharksfan11 Must agree with all below, these are almost certainly fakes. I checked through my SG Germany catalogue, thought they could possibly be amongst the 1939-45 occupation issues for some part of Europe, but no luck. Having said that, I would buy them for their curiosity value. |

I recently bought similar ones on ebay out of pure curiosity. The seller said it was from 1941. It looked like the symbol for the German Red Cross. Yours looks like the symbol for the German sport authority. Mine also has the greenish color around the black. Either we are stumbling upon a special issue overprint (and a new area of collection)....or we both got ripped off. |

I have these and although they are in Michel, I just assume they're fakes |

The Bi-color overprints are modern fakes.
Jubilee's Might be real. I'll look for the proofing documents when I get a chance. |
