I am not sure what kind of promotional item this is. I know our USPS offers brochures about some stamps with the stamp inside and some year sets come with brochures, but the Netherlands evidently think that a used stamp is more valuable. Does anyone know what this item really is and why it featured a used stamp.

Yes the dutch have been known to do things differently...it looks like an informational thingee about the stamp honoring the 125th anniversary of the Delft University of Technology Scott # 443 in 1967 !

It is also possible that this brochure, along with the cancelled stamp, was sent as a 'gift' to a subscriber who has been putting in orders for a peroid of time??

Canada Post once sent their customers something similar with one of the train stamps on it as a 'complimentary gift'. I believe this was in the mid 1980s. Also, the UN Postal Administration has done this in the past as well.

Would this be what you were referring to?

funny that the brochure is in English. Nowadays there's nothing available in English from Dutch Post (TNT).
