Sorry Otto, I have no background on this label, somehow, just doesn't seem to fit the plethora of 1971 strike labels, but who knows?
Riding the 1950's double deckers, I remember the smell of the diesel, and the gigantic shuddering radiator cap just out the front window, I used to think they would vibrate to bits, but they never did. We used to sneak upstairs to watch the older kids hold hands with their girlfriends and steal kisses.
Apparently there were others issued as evidenced by the example below (which I found on the internet). It appears to me that it may be a local parcel delivery service offered by Brighton Corporation Transport (or Tramways, as this example suggests):
These would have been issued by the transport department of Brighton Corporation, i.e. the Brighton council / local government organisation. Brighton Corporation owned and operated its own tram system which it replaced in turn with trolley buses and then motor buses.
These stamps are similar to the parcels stamps that British railway companies used to issue.
