And is this an error? Don't the numbers usually match?

Semi-postals are postage stamps that carry an additional charge for charity or special projects. Your stamp would have been 15c postage and 5c for charity. Scott list what the charity is for some issues but not this one. I believe it was for injured WWI soldiers. Maybe someone else will know for sure.

Part of the purchase price goes toward postage, and the rest benefits a charity, in this case the Red Cross. Semi-postals are prefixed "B" in Scott, and appear after the regular postage issues.

B, the stamps in the first scan have a bit of catalogue value to them in the original, unoverprinted state. The sword is a few dollars, but the other two are in the thirty-dollar range for catalogue value. (The set of three overprints catalogues at several dollars for the set.)

The original set was issued for the 50th anniversary of the uniting of the Italian States into the Kingdom of Italy.
