Put a link to your ebay auctions on Stamp Community also. I will look.

Not here but start a new topic in the ebay links forum down lower in the list of forums.

Rod I could not agree more. In today's day and age and with so many people reaching for that almighty $$$, it is a real shot in the arm to be able to discuss, show, and offer stamps on SCF. I also have experienced several times people bidding significantly higher than I had listed something for, and to voluntarily pay near value for an item and not try and beat me out of a buck is wonderful. For all those people that have helped me, thank you, and please continue. I really am trying to absorb the information. For those that have bid on my items, I hope I have sent you something that adds a little joy to the hobby.
I have tried to respond to some US questions and as time goes on I am sure I will be able to carry my weight. So for all of you that are making this forum "the absolute best that it can be" kudos and know that this little piece of the globe is better off for it. - Jeff

Jeff,

any suggestions on how I can figure them out, is it all explained in Scotts

Yes, it is all in the catalog. You just need to do some digging. I would use a process of elimination. Start with the perforations, then the watermarks. If you need to check shades/color, I would suggest digging up a color chart or comparing the stamp in question to one that is known.
Between the quality of scanners and our monitors, it is unlikely that the true color will show up online so asking about shade differences online isn't very useful.
Have fun!

Dan

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.

Thanks for your honesty Dan, and I will recheck the stamps and let you know how I make out. The perfs and the watermarks wont be a problem, but I will have to tie my wife to a chair to get the shades, blues, greens, and reds are my nemesis.

Thanks for your honesty

Ye never cheateth a fellow SCF member for most surely it will biteth ye in the butt.
For me this forum is about sharing information and having fun, not improving one's collection at the expense of another because of a lack of knowledge. We have ebay for that!
Those stamps may all be 229's but you will never know until you look. That's part of the fun for me. There may be a pony in a pile of manure but you have to dig to find out.
Hmmm. Tying your wife to a chair while you stamp. A new twist on collecting!
Have fun!

These stamps were all supposed to be the same in the glassines and obviously they are not. Now I really don't know what I have here.
