As some members know I have been working on a stamp wiki to show stamp issues from around the world. Up until now we have over 3000 stamp images, have almost complete listings for Ireland, Alderney, South Africa Homelands, Jersey, Isle of Man and Guernsey (Images for Ireland, Alderney, and 3 of 4 Homelands are uploaded).

Because many members here collect Canada and US I thought it would be a great idea to make a start on Canada,

Now I do not collect Canada and some members have previously offered to contribute images of Canadian stamps so I have started this thread to keep track and to list progress on the Canadian portion of the site.

How you can help:

1) Upload images, there are two ways - you can either go directly to the site and click on a red image holder link and upload the file directly to the site or email the image/s to submissions@stampsoftheworld.co.uk. (You will need to register on the site to upload images - to prevent spammers)

2) Give additional information, make corrections, suggestions etc Post it up here or feel free to email me.

3) Categorise sets into thematics so that thematic collectors can easily find their themes from Canada.

Now to the site. I have uploaded one set for Canada - 1980 Arctic Islands. This page can be seen at - http://www.stampsoftheworld.co.uk/w...ctic_Islands

As you can see there are 4 red image place holders on this page that need uploading. If you click on any of these red links it will take you to an upload image page.

- The 17c stamp
- First Day Cover
- Plate Block
- Canada 17c colour error

Anyone who has these images feel free to upload them.

Thank you again for the members who have already contributed and in advance to those that will.

How do you handle multiple copies of the same stamp?

Example: 2004 Picture Postage personalized stamps?

Or stamps with various cancels like different place names or dates?

Hi Puzzler,

1) Looking at the the Picture Postage set, this could possibly be handled in two ways
-Basic Info with images of the frame types and panes and leave it as that
-More advanced listing with examples of the personal stamps ordered. Is there an end to the number of different personalised stamps that was ordered for this set? If so then a complete listing although huge is very possible in the site format.

2) Can you give me an exampl of the cancels - at the moment would like to show examples of the stamps, Postmarks etc can fall under a different category under Canada.

I will send you a message regarding the 2004 personalised stamps and see what you think.

Drew

Do the stamps have to be mint or can they be used?

There is no thematic category for personalized stamps.

Stamps can be used until a mint copy can be placed. It is a very organic site that can be edited by anyone.

You can have a look at the Venda Listings to get an idea Venda Stamp Listings

I understand the earlier issues and definitive issues are more complicated as there are many variations. A page I worked on with BeeSee for Tuvalu - Tuvalu 1979 Fish Definitives uses tabs at the top to show vast amounts of information. This format can be applied to any page.

I have added the set - 2004 Picture Postage

Would not mind better quality scans of the single stamps (BeeSee I hope you don't mind, I nipped them from your site).

I got the image of the first day cover from another thread on SCF.

everyone should note that you for USA images you can only send images of stamps that YOU OWN. Otherwise it is a copyright violation.

If you start a section on Indo-China.. I have a spreadsheet with the entire scott catalog info and around 150 images of stamps that I own.

okay, okay, I realize this is about Canada stamps, Sorry.

Is OK SV, we were just eyeing Indo-China for expansion of out snow dump areas. Trouble is, getting it there before it melts and raises the ocean levels. Problems problems.

No problem for the pics , your doing all the work. StampStudy has explained how easy it is to contribute directly and I firmly believe this is a worthwhile venture. Consider how many times you have googled a specific stamp and basically chased your tail looking for information. This will slowly but surely give you pics, quantities, artist, printers and more. Comments can be added as well to allow for additional info . I encourage any and everyone to go check it out and if you have time try and help make this grow.
