Well after spending the last several days trying to find out about my wife's brother in Christchurch after the earthquake, it has turned out well, his family is fine (yet very tragic for many other people ). I am now back with that wonderful wad of old Austrian empire stamps I won on ebay for $5.00. |

They say it gets cold here too, in winter Phil, I have to sit for a licence to gather free firewood for the pot belly stove. One has specific areas and ways to saw for free wood mainly on damaged and felled trees on our roadways verge. A lot of old wood has to remain untouched as haven for our wildlife.

At this very moment, my cat is sitting under my reading lamp, on top of my work. Wonderful excuse to bludge off, and look at some miscellaneous Cochin that arrived the other day ... |

'Beautiful' + "Travancore' - an oxymoron on a par with 'military intelligence', surely?
I do have some nice Bussahir remainders to ponder over, though. |

Wow, many responses, cool. @stampgal: You don't need stamps to keep you busy at the moment, I guess that when it rains it pours. Hopefully your kid will be up and running again soon. @jimjamtwo & Horamkhet: How does the Morley Bright compare to other methods you have used to detect watermarks? I have considered buying a Morley Bright, but from reading about others experience with it, a few are happy with it and some more are not happy at all with it. |

Wish I had a potbelly stove. Right now I am working on my filing system for modern US stamps and cataloging the lot of penalty covers (and trying to become an instant expert on stamped envelope dies). |

I'm trying to finish mounting my Federal Republic of Germany stamps into my Scott album ... started as a winter project and I hope to have it completed soon!
I've enjoyed reading about the Morley Bright here. I'm also glad to hear that Bee See's wife's family members are OK in Christchurch.
Wishing all a great weekend!

I have been to the stampclub this morning. It's a small club, only 13 collectors attend today. But there's been time there was less than that and I stop going. I sold allot of stamps and that why I went there. I am now making pages for the year 2004 of Europa stamps and mount them. The theme for 2004 is vacations. When needed I put a description of the stamp. Except for 1971, 1972 and the expensive Luxembourg 1956 set I have all complete years till 2005. When i'm back to work I want to buy 2006 complete year. That's what I did so far to buy complete year to save money. Daniel |

Haven't done as much stamping as I thought I would this weekend, but have continued to work through some Canadian stamps and looking at a few auctions at a Norwegian auction site. I'm bidding on three covers sent from one of the post offices on my home island in the 1920s to the United States, hopefully I will get them all. :) |

Well! The past month has seen a lot happen in stamping at our place. Had a lot of different spots around the house to store stamps and it made my collecting look harmless but my family put all the stamps in one place and the full extent of a bulk collector was totally exposed. On the up side my stamps now have a room that they can call their own. The thing that is taking all my time at the minute is trying to learn how to list on ebay. Trying to organize all the stamps. Trying to put packets and sets together. Trying to writing titles and descriptions for the stamps. All the stuff that is trying. It takes a lot of time trying. Happy Stamping KGV. |

Goodness that doesn't sound at all entertaining John, just a heads up, are you aware of the ebay for dummies books, may assist you in the listing procedures. Some years ago I bought a huge swag of Hagners from a lass who listed heaps on ebay, and she did explain a few of the listing techniques which I have , of course forgotten. It was something about creating a listing "template" that you could employ for all listings with minimum edit. |

Hi! Rod. It is easy enough to list with a camera image on ebay. But to list a quality title, a quality stamp description and a couple of quality images from a flat bed scanner is another story. This present situation is going to take a lot more of my time to get thing halfway right. A couple more months and things should be at a normal again. The trick is not to give up. Happy whatever!
