Great Topic yobo Well I normally don't have much time to work on my collection but this past weekend I seemed to catch a bug that made me ill enough to be pampered by my husband but ok to work on stamps. So I camped out in the living room with a box of stamp from Czechoslovakia and started sorting. I printed the pages for some of the years but ran out of paper so I ended up with pages from 1942 to 1982. I ended up staying home from work Monday and Tuesday so I manages to get all those years hinged safely in their pages. I think that is the most I have ever gotten done in less than a week. I picked up some more paper this weekend so hopefully by the end of this comming weekend, I'll finish the rest and move on to a new country Dianne |

Thanks Dianne. Sounds like you had a very productive weekend. I have been shifting some Australian stamps around today to get some empty stockbooks, its time to order some new ones. Again. Planning to put the Jersey and Guernsey stamps into a stockbook tonight. |

I've been working through a kilo of kiloware I bought last week and received on Friday. The price was good, so I decided to take a chance. Had a few nice finds. A piece with 8(?) Australian international rate stamps with decent value was a good start, 2 letters to Norway from Japan and Austria (with some beautiful definitives), and some very good cancellations for my Norwegian collection. There was also glassines with stamps and stamp packets in the mix, and these things a bit out of the ordinary for a kiloware made working my way through it more fun. I am considering trying another kilo or two from the same person, but have decided to wait until Tuesday. There will be a person selling at the stamp club, and the last time (if it is the same person, which I believe it is) he had a lot of interesting stuff at good prices, ended up with many nice items then. So if I spend all my stamp money on Tuesday, no more kiloware this month. |

Hey! that would be great Dianne. I am using Stanley Gibbons "peelable" I am caught between wanting a peelable hinge and a hinge that has a bit of grip. The SG hinges grip like Tarzan, and don't peel very well, It may be the way I am wetting the hinge. I just love breaking down an album that has those blue (maybe dennisen) hinges, they just fall off, but that's what worries me, don't want to have to hinge again in 5 years time. I can send you a packet of 500 Stanley gibbons (they cost $5.50 so a lot dearer than the US which is curious) Thanks for the neighbourly offer. Here's to the hingers. |

Hi there. I'm a recently 'reborn' philatelist, and have had a great time revisiting and refining my old collection. Been buying lots at auctions as well as buying and selling on ebay. Also getting to shows when I can. My latest passion (obsession) has been Confederate stamps from the US Civil War. Fascinated with the history and almost transient quality. They really thought they were going to be around for a while. Always wanted to design stamps but can't find info about how to approach it. Anybody know? Submitted some designs to Canada Posts recent contest, but didn't make top five. |

Welcome James. Many members here return to stamp collecting after stopping for a long time. I'm sure you will find here knowledgeable individuals in what you collect. I visit your website and your work is very good. It make me think of the Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon. Wish you success. Daniel |

Got a nice little lot of old Canada classics so scanning and serching for possible entries or oddities. Same time I grabbed a couple small lots of old US classics and think I opened pandoras box. Looking at a few that are only listed with grils and I don't see them naturally so going to dig a bit deeper . Have to really hold back as I may have been bitten by the pride of the american side but have 5lbs of kiloware canada on its way . May just fill a pillow case and sleep with them and dream there are treasures within! |

Waiting! I just came off a spate of listing on ebay, which is something I do every couple of years when the closet begins to overflow a bit. Lots of sorting and creating lots and scanning and such but that's fun too. One of these years I will find someone to teach me how to store photos on line somewhere so I can just post a link and not be limited by the 12 picture limit. That's done and I have already spent the imaginary money (that's what ends up in Paypal and never actually deigns to cross the palm of my hand) on 4 boxes of unknown provenance and content from a person in Florida. Not quite as risky as it sounds because I have dealt with this individual before and have always been quite pleased. However, it is a long walk for UPS from there and despite checking every morning for a week, the shipment doesn't seem to be any closer to the border in Washington and its stay with Canadian Border Services and the HST Police. Sigh. Waiting, eagerly |

Just got home from the stamp club. A dealer was there today, selling at good prices, so I picked up a few things. - A 64-page stockbook filled with duplicate Norway. Planning to go through it and look for stamps that will either fill a gap or improve the collection. The rest I plan to use for trades. - A bag with a little bit of this and that, just bought it for the fun of going through it really. Had a quick look through when I got home, and found some old circuit books, a few stockbooks, some covers and FDC and some other mish mash. - A small stockbook with some interesting Wildings, and some other mish mash. Wash cheap, and when I had picked it up and thinking about buying it, it was hard to put it down. - And finally a pile of pre-decimal FDC from New Zealand. |

Have been a bit busy lately, so haven't had much time for stamps. But I attended my stamp club yesterday, fun as always. Got a freebie from one of the other collectors there, part of a address card cancelled on Judaberg (post office on the island I live on) with Nåden (my surname) in the sender field. Unfortunately only a g was visible from the first name, but since it might be a relative of mine that sent it, it was a really nice thing to receive. I also picked up some Norwegian and Australian stamps from some circuit books, and some modern mint from a mini-auction for postage. |
