I have a very old catalog, so value info. will be meaningless. But the stamp, I believe is a Scott #129 for the country of Transvaal (South African Republic). Color is said to be "bronze green". Can't tell from the scan if that is the true color. Cautionary notes in Scott catalog refer to a number of reprints and excellent counterfeits that exist.

Hi mdpmedia, welcome.

The name of the country is

Zuid-Afrikaanse Republiek in Dutch (Holland or the Netherlands),

Suid-Afrika Republiek in Afrikaans spoken in South Africa and Namibia, originally settled by the Dutch,

Republic of South Africa or RSA in English.

translation provided by Google Language tool.

The stamp itself is damaged with pulled perfs (perforations) on the upper left edge and lower left corner. Possible thinning of the back's paper upper center (not sure).

I do not have a catalogue with pricing info for a good condition copy nor year(s) of use.

Thematic or Topical collectors might like it for the flags, the gun, the transport (wagon), the coat of arms (I think?), the bird (hawk? falcon?) and the lion as heraldic elements.

If this is an expensive stamp catalogue wise then best be checking the perfs with a gauge and for any watermark. There is no cancelation on it (I can't see one) so it is mint or new but with most of it's original gum missing (lower value for this).

As an old stamp is is nice to have a copy of while you search and save for a replacement copy.

I am wandering on and I apologize if confusing. Late.

See, I spoke too soon, wt1 beat me to it. Without proper catalog info is a guess sometimes. You get close anyway.

Gibbons also calls this bronze-green. Gibbons lists it in four different perforations: 12½, 13½, 12½x12 and 11½x12 at respectively £4.50, £9, £16 and £200. It warns that there are reprints which are very difficult to tell apart from the originals, but says that all the reprints are perf 12½ with large holes.

I'm afraid that, if your stamp is perf 12½, those perf holes look pretty large ...

I waited for others to answer here,
no way that is bronze green, surely?
Is that pigment degradation?
