I can't be certain because the pic isn't big enough, but the upper right stamp looks like a reprint.

Crikey khj, you've bested me again! You're right, the ornament under the lamp is the reprint version. I bow to your expertise. In future I'll not comment on Chinese material until I hear your opinions first.
...I shall now slink back to my lair. :)

Jamesw, don't worry, this is not a competition. And if it were a competition about who is wrong more times, then I would win!

We all learn from our mistakes. Technically, you did not make a mistake. The catalog number you gave is correct.

We all need as many people to chime in as much as possible. I've been absent from the boards for a spell because I've been tied down. I drop in when I can. This time, a scorpion sting hobbled me a bit, so it is a convenient excuse to get some "rest" and visit the SCF! Nice to see many new "names" actively posting!

Rodney, shout if you need any help converting the numbers to Gibbons-speak.

The Nanking overprint amused me. It's ever so slightly cheeky. It consists of the single character 'king' (in Wade romanisation or 'jing' in Pinyin). This means '(the) Capital'. (Nanking/Nanjing means 'Southern Capital'; Peking/Beijing means 'Northern Capital'). I suppose that, as these stamps were for use specifically in East China, the single character was sufficient - but perhaps Nanking was still smarting a little from its loss of status.

Thanks Tony,
I'll see if I can nut these out via "simplified"
This status thing intrigues me, most humans seem to like
to huddle together, the bigger the better, New York etc.
I like to disperse, my original preference for a country town
was 900 persons, but I couldn't afford it.
I read once a maximum for any interacting group was 150 beings,
before the "clique" system begins.

Thanks to Jeff, James and khj!

Absolutely, that makes for a healthy discourse,
sometimes the mistakes made by one are commited by others
reading the post.

Top job IDing the reprint, I'll post a higher definition scan
for others to investigate.
