Thanks to both of you, I now know know a bit of the history of extraterritorial post offices. I guess this was the forerunner of diplomatic post offices in embassies which continues today.
Here is the page from my collection ,notice your stamp is the more common 56 degree angle of the overprint .Your picyure was taken under a different type of light giving readers a weird color of the stamp .
That was a bit harder. had to rotate the scan to crop China, but can't turn the pasted group back to its original setting, so all 1o are in this pic. Top 5 are the 45* OPs and the bottom 5 are the 56* OPs.
