Quote: Or he could be very tired (he was 65 years old then), not be bothered to mirror letters, just engrave his name normal, which makes it mirrored when printed?? Indeed, That would be my explanation, Tomoko. Those strange blobs at the bottom of the Pylons possibly indicates concrete footings, with "re-bar" Reinforcing steel. |

Sorry - poor ability of my maths ... Mr. Piel was 75 years old when he engraved the stamp with mirrored name, and the database your referred told me that his last work was issued on 1966, when he was 84 years old!! Amazing engraver!!! I found that I have his work from 1964 on Philatec Paris, and admiring his matured precision right now. |

Nice catch Tomoko. The Power Station stamp can be explained as an "Artist's Impression" It would be difficult to find enough water on top of such a mountain to run a hydro power station. |

Quote: It would be difficult to find enough water on top of such a mountain to run a hydro power station. That is true, Rod... maybe the painter omitted a few more mountains behind, to paint the nice blue sky... The Finnish stamps are great! Another snow-on-insulators. And then Quote: Thematic : Morse Code on Stamps I checked if that has been existed in the Stamp Community already.. not yet, is it right? Are you starting it? Sounds great, please do! I have checked my images and already found 5 to contribute, in case so. One of them is here; https://wellcentred.wordpress.com/2...449;#27231;/ |

Quote: I'd give that an OK pass. Thanks Rod! This set is ... enormous in size (35 x 55 mm) ! I added the comparison image on the bottom, the largest insulator stamp I have next to the smallest (18 x 26 mm). I finally got one of the largest depiction of Telegraph Insulator, featured on Linn's Stamp News page link on the page 1 of this thread https://www.insulators.info/go-withs/linns.htm, but not posted here yet. Two more stamps following it are the largest and the second, both are posted already in this thread - re-posting to compare. Mozambique 1982 ++ + ++ + Argentina 1954 South Korea 1960 |
