Hi: I have available for use a couple of 1971 Scott catalogs. The question is: Since almost all my stamps are previous to that year, can I still using them and the information will be reliable? And also Could somebody explain to me, how do I use them? I'm asking because when the English language gets too technical, I just get lost
Hi Bob I think most of us use old catalogues. I have a 1974-75 Harris for United States and Canada as well as Scott C-F 2002 and D-I 1994 The information regarding the stamps is still pretty accurate, it's just the prices won't be current. But the books are much cheaper! Once you find the picture of the stamp you're looking for in the catalogue, you can find it's denomination and colour in the listing below. Often that will be it. But sometimes stamps have been issued at different times with minor variations, different perforations, different or no watermarks, even slight changes in the drawings or images. Usually at the bottom of the listing it will direct you to another catalogue number which will be a different version or use for that stamp. And of course, if you're in doubt, post a question here, that always works. Goodluck
