Dinosaurs On Stamps

none that I know of - but thank you for the updates about Great Britain & North Korea.

STAMPMANIA 2009 First National One Frame Philatelic Exhibition, took place 17-20 December 2009, Vadodara. There are several special covers issued on the event. One of them is below Commemorating Balasinor Dinosaur Park



"In the early 1980s, palaeontologists stumbled upon dinosaur bones and fossils during a regular geological survey of this mineral-rich area. The find sent ripples of excitement through neighbouring villages and many residents picked up fossilised eggs, brought them home and worshipped them. Since then excavations have thrown up a veritable trove of dinosaur remains—eggs, bones, a skeleton which is now kept in a Calcutta (Kolkata) museum—bringing hordes of scientists and tourists to Balasinor.

Piecing together the evidence in Balasinor, researchers now believe that Gujarat is home to one of the largest clutch of dinosaur hatcheries in the world. At least 13 species of dinosaurs lived here, possibly for more than 100 million years until their extinction some 65 million years ago. The soft soil made hatching and protecting eggs easier for the animals. So well-protected are the fossilised eggs found here that many researchers call them the best-preserved eggs in the world after the ones found in Aix-en-Provence in France." from Wikipedia

The are many overprinted stamps with "Speciement" or "CANCELLED" labels.
Mint one is quite difficult to find, therefore I was happy to buy these three stamps even though one stamps of the set is missing.

Dinosaurs from Benin 1984, these two FDC are not official one but in USA produced




I'm a bit confused by the following signature on the back side of these covers:
"@1986 Fleetwood, Cheyenne, Wyoming, U.S.A. 1170758
Original an by Gene Jarvis"

How come that covers with post mark of "First day issue" of 1984 produced in 1986 ?

last week I got an official answer about this oddity.
" Dear Mr. ...,

Thank you for your email. And for your patience, I received an answer from Unicover this morning. In 1986 Unicover (the company in which Fleetwood was originally a division of.) made a deal with the Post Office for the Republic of Benin to put the first day of issue cancellation (1984) on the 1986 product.

Here is what Unicover replied:

Thank you for your patience while we researched the matter of the images you received for the Flora and Fauna First Day Covers. The covers are authentic Fleetwood First Day Covers. Special arrangements were made with the country's post or agent. They were willing to cancel with the First Day of Issue cancel after the actual first day of issue.

Hi, found this cover from Guyana in my collection
