Good question, Scouter! My favorite "best" countries started out as US, Canada and Vatican City ... but that list is constantly growing!

Being a newbie and not of 'senior' age, I somehow like the colorful newer ones which tell me something about that region/country and visually spectacular... maybe it's just me. Like the couple below:

They look like Ukraine.

[edit: They are 2009, so they don't appear in my Scott...not that you'd want a Scott number, anyway.)

There is also a 2010 sheetlet with different minerals in the same design. Equilateral triangles making a hexagon shape. Yummy.

I like Turkey (especially Ottoman empire - the Duloz and newspaper stamps and overprints are interesting to catalog, to say the least) as well as Germany. The DDR hammer and compass officials are also interesting. However, I just like whatever catches my eye and my interest!

In addition to the countries I identified in an earlier post, I have developed an interest in the British Commonwealth countries from Queen Victoria to King George VI. I find many of the stamp designs of that period to be very attractive and only aspire to get a sampling of the commemoratives and definitives from each country.

How extrordinary!
I rejoice in my hobby, and tell everyone,
I don't recall ever getting any negativity,
except from my son.
More often than not, people relate to some time
in their life when they had a album of some sort.

I had a friend drop me off a box of stamps
today from my bike club, they like the look
of rapture when I get more stamps
