LOL. That stamp reminds me of Tipu's Tiger, an automaton created for an Indian Sultan in the 1700's. It's on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London - a must visit. |

Private mail carrier Arriva ( Wurttemberg, Germany) issued this stamp featuring the Imperium statue of Konstanz. According to Wikipedia, "The Imperia is a statue at the entrance of the harbour of Konstanz, Germany, commemorating the Council of Constance that took place there between 1414 and 1418. The concrete statue is 9 metres high, weighs 18 tonnes, and stands on a pedestal that rotates around its axis once every four minutes. It was created by Peter Lenk and clandestinely erected in 1993. The erection of the statue caused controversy, but it was on private property of the rail company that did not object to its presence." See Wikipedia for more details. |

Bookbndrbob, Arriva is not a postal service. It is a multinational company headquartered in England and owned by Deutsche Bahn. In West Europe especially they run a vast network of buses and trains.

Petert4522, I see that you are correct about how the corporation is organized.
However, the 55 cent charge looks like a mail courier service that the corporation is running in southern Germany, also. |

The food groups & the text ('le gout') made me think of the old-school advice about managing gout. But ...
French 'le gout' = English 'taste'
The English word 'gout' comes from the French word 'goutte'.
Aging hobby, my foot! (Which feels fine on 300 mg Allopurinol, thank you.)
Cheers,
