Thank you, Tinman!

As for the overprinted 3c stamps, I believe he's talking about the two admiral stamps, 139 & 140. The overprints are surcharges - but for what purpose, I have never researched. Neither Scott, nor Unitrade explain the purpose of the surcharges.

Hello Rileysan

The 3 cent was overprinted 2 cents when the War Tax was removed and the cost of a domestic letter reverted to 2 cents. There was an immediate need for a 2 cent value but stocks were insufficient but the Post Office had lots of 3 ce3nt stamps in stock. The overprinting was a glorious opportunity to get rid of surplus stock and also gave some time to allow the preparation of a new issue of stamps.

I often post new purchases, and figured these belonged on this thread. Received two Canadian Classics in the post today.
Large Queen #28. No watermark and no 'balloon flaw' but a very prominent position dot at lower left. Some browning meant it was affordable. She's on her page now, but a light hydrogen peroxide bath is in her future.

and a #46 Widows Weeds with SON cancel (though indiscernible, I think it's Montreal).

I'm very pleased with the centering on both stamps.

Koala,
The downloaded setup file name is Gwyddion-2.31.win32.exe. Please note that different browsers save downloaded files in different places. Also note that users can override these default locations and save the files in a specific location.

Rather than rehash the default locations for each browser and fill up forum space here you might want to check out this link, it provides a good overview for the different file download locations (and how to change it).

Alternately, if you post which browser and version you are using we can be more specific with some assistance.

If you have already downloaded and installed the application, the file is named gwyddion.exe. If you did not over-ride the default install location you will find it on your PC here C:\Program Files\Gwyddion\bin\gwyddion.exe

Hi Coriandre
Thanks, I like them. And I've tried the bath once before and it seems to work pretty well. But I think with her majesty here, I'll have to re-research and make sure I get the dilution just right. Don't want to over do.

I was looking through this thread to see if I had posted a photo of my Admirals, but apparently not!

That's ok, because I picked up 3 upgrades this past weekend that I'd like to share with you:

110, 119, and 120 in XF MNH.

Brian

Gilles le Timbre : a delicate question but very informative : How much did you bid to win these 3 stamps?

Well, they came home for about 70% of 2012 unitrade catalog, plus the 15% buyer's fee. Expensive but I have previously made > 10 attempts to get decent copies in last 5 yrs, I was not letting this one go by once more. I should be able to recover some by selling my 2 other copies of # 8 and a # 5. Time will tell, patience will be key.
