Poll Question:
I've noticed a trend for pre-printed album pages to be in full-color.
If you were purchasing a new pre-printed album, would you prefer color pages or black & white?

Color costs more and doesn't really do much for me. Why mount the stamp if you have a nice full-color image right there? |

I posted this question, so I'll vote first. (OK, smauggie beat me to it ) I would prefer B&W album pages -- I agree the color pages are beautiful and might make color identification easier. However, when I open my album, I want my colorful stamps to be the focal point, not colorful blank pages. Just my 2-cents worth... KirkS |

Quote: I wonder how well the color pages will hold up over the decades? Another question: I wonder how well self adhesive stamps will hold up over the decades? No one really knows for sure. Based on another thread, apparently the UN Postal Administration is also transferring their stamp production to self adhesives for the first time. I still think most of us probably prefer the intricate engravings of the old-time stamps of the early 20th century to these modern self adhesives that look more like labels than traditional stamps. By the way, I voted for B&W album pages also ... as stated earlier, the stamps should be the highlight of a collection, not the album pages. To colorize the album pages takes the eye appeal away from the stamps themselves. |

I also prefer B & W pages for the reasons listed above. I have noticed on one album with colored pages that the stamps aren't easy to detect when you first open the page. |

I voted Black for the printing. Just a little other question what is the color of the paper. If you choose other than white what would it be? |

I prefer colour pages. All my album pages are in colour, I feel that they augment the stamps rather than compete for attention. The old-style stark white pages with black boxes and maybe a black border remind me of a morgue.
Life is colour, death is black and white.

Kirk, there should be an option for neither or a space with just catalogue #. Like in the old albums.

Good point Litho...
I wasn't distinguishing between illustrated and non-illustrated, just color and 'monochrome'

I will stick with the classic B&W. But I wonder how close the color ones will actually be to the Stamps? |
