Hi, I was searching on ebay for the rarest stamp ever and I found this one. http://cgi.cafr.ebay.com/1870-GB-El...t_483wt_2654

I would like to know if it is really worth that much? I ask the seller a bit of information about the stamp but I could never prove it on the internet or in books !

He said that this stamp was made in 1870 by Truscott. After a while, the production was eventually stopped by Queen Victoria and she ordered to destroy all stamps that had been produced. So that's why it is one of the rarest. Can anyone confirm it?

Thank you very much !

Not even a certificate?? Never heard of it, but I suppose it's always possible it might not be a fake ........... somehow I don't think I will risk "Approximately £599,489.80" to try it.
Damn lottery keeps refusing to pay out!

Just noticed, in the description "Few if any exist, Vary Scarce."
So if it's not "few" what does that leave???

Russ
Only free shipping for US customers, if I buy it I will need to fork out another $3 for P&P to the UK. That's just tipped it over my budget for the week!

You can't possibly think you're gonna sell a million dollar stamp on ebay with so few details. Never gonna happen. Can't even spell "very" correctly!

David, he would probably waive the shipping if you bought it

Minesweeper,
I agree the seller is an optimist, but if there is a multi-millionaire out there looking for an "investment", you never know he may get lucky. Can't blame a guy for trying, but if he does it the fees will be MASSIVE!
Well spotted on "very/vary" btw. Missed that one in my haste.

I read that too Smauggie.
And he'd be right.
None do exist.

An absolute load of codswallop. [as my Mother would say]

I have complained to ebay.

Did you try to search on the internet? lol I didn't find a thing about that stamp... but the thing is, my father has a similar stamp, so that's why we are wondering why we can find it on ebay for almost a million dollar haha !

You'll notice the seller is from Raleigh, NC.

You can tell because here in the south it's proper not to pronounce the final G on words ending in ING.

Ergo, the currency is measured in "shillins"
