PAMIR - GermanyA great sailing vessel and its disaster A four-masted barque, was one of the famous Flying P-Liner sailing ships of the German shipping company F. Laeisz. 1986 ,3n, SG681 Error on vessel description ! Actually the sailing ship on this stamp is the Romanian training ship MIRCEA and not Libertad from Argentina as it is printed on stamp ! Tristan da Cunha Post Office - June 1, 2015 The two stamps and a minisheet commemorate the bicentenary of the battle between the USS Hornet and HMS Penguin, the final action to take place in the War of 1812. The battle between the two ships took place off Tristan da Cunha on 23 March 1815.   |
