Here is an image of an airmail stamp designed after a painting depicting the embarkation of the Liberating Expedition of Peru from Valparaiso on August 20, 1820, by 19th century Argentine artist Antonio A. Abel, printed by lithography, and issued by Argentina on October 17, 1970 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of this historic military expedition under the command of Captain General Jose de San Martin (1778-1850), Scott No. C130.

François-Gabriel D'Angeac (1708-1782) was an officer in the French colonial military service and the first French governor of Saint Pierre and Miquelon. Here is an image of an airmail stamp commemorating the bicentenary of the arrival of Governor D'Angeac in Saint-Pierre, designed by Pierre Gandon (1899-1990), engraved by René Cottet (1902-1992), and issued for use in Saint Pierre & Miquelon on August 5, 1963, Scott No. C27.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a 17th century linijkugis ("battleship") flying the naval flag (a black sea crab on a raspberry red background) of the Duchy of Courland (a part of Latvia), printed by lithography, and issued by Latvia on May 10, 1997 in honor of the seafaring history of the Baltic Sea, Scott No. 443. Note the coat of arms of Courland decorating the ship's stern.

HMS Erebus in Antarctica, 1842, an airmail stamp designed and engraved by French artist Pierre Béquet (1932-2012) after original artwork by British artist John Edward Davis (1815-1877), and issued for use in French Southern and Antarctic Territories on January 1, 1984, Scott No. C78.

The stamp features Suomen Joutsen, built in 1902 and refitted to serve as a school ship for the Finnish Navy in 1930. From 1961 on she served as a stationary seamen's school for the Finnish Merchant Navy. In 1991 she became a museum ship moored next to Forum Marinum.
