Good thread I can relate to so much the huge like 25,000 lira banknotes when I was in the service..how you had to unfold them...a fortune to an Italian at the time..only 40 dollars to us rich American service men..and we were rich on that economy..American kids were renting apartments with marble floors downtown for 15,000 a month..Mac, I envy you..when I was 15 I could walk with a gun from my fathers backdoor in three directions accross anyones property and no one said boo...today I would be locked up in an instant...ah well I have the memories !! As for collecting...Just stamps and covers ! |

James interesting that 2 of your notes have the same 5 digits in the serial numbers 92645 & 24965 . Probably couldn't find that if you were trying. |

I would be interested in knowing where one goes to sell old ... ancient ... magazines. I've 8 Burr McIntosh Monthlys 1906 & 1907, that, considering age, seem to be in fairly good condition. I've neither room nor appreciation and should go to someone who does... for a modest fee, of course. ;)
I did that recently too Nitro... moved from 41202 to 21402 Does that mean from the dark side to the light? |

Yes, but since everyone on this forum is so generous, I thought I'd ask if there were somewhere - better. Thanks James. Barb |

As I said before, I collect bits and pieces of militaria. Recently, I came into possession of a set of Omani Army DPM (Disruptive Pattern Material). It's difficult to get ahold of and according to other friends who collect militaria seldom seen outside of Oman. Here are 2 pics of the Omani DPM uniform I picked up. It looks like something the British military would wear for an invasion of mars! Now, if I can just get the beret! |

Thanks James. I've got more East German and Warsaw Pact uniforms back at home in the US. As I'm in Oman, my students were more than willing to help me out. |

Omani must hate their military! Is there a bulls eye on the back? Just can't see what you would blend into with that uniform but very interesting none the less. I'll go with the Mac taylor from CSI (liked Gary Sinise in Forrest Gump) Data seems like he'd have OCD and if you seen my living room floor of stamp albums ,thats certainly not me. |
